#JamaicaGleaner FEBRUARY 12, 2026: Economist Keenan Falconer says he did not expect the Government to introduce new taxes, arguing that after a crisis such as Hurricane Melissa, the conventional approach is to reduce or remove taxes to spur growth… The Holness administration will prioritise a new all-island electricity licence, Portmore parish status, tougher penalties for sexual crimes, and the restart of the constitutional reform process in the new legislative year… Three minors have been charged in connection with a series of threats targeting educational institutions since the start of the year… Twenty-seven-year-old businessman, Ceejay Wilson, accused of posing as a police officer to gain entry to a man’s home before fatally shooting him in Newport, Manchester earlier this month
