Ammar's in downtown Kingston gutted by fire
Feb 2nd, 2026 | Category: Special Reports | 2:42#JamaicaGleaner The Ammar’s department store in downtown Kingston was gutted by a fire Sunday, February 1, 2026. The losses are believed to be in the millions. The fire department indicated that a call reporting a blaze at the establishment was received in the morning. A unit from the York Park Fire Station responded and reinforcements from other fire stations were called in. Around 30 firefighters worked to battle the blaze.
