Remembering Veteran Reggae Artiste, Leroy Gibbons
Jun 18th, 2025 | Category: Entertainment | 3:45#JamaicaGleaner JUNE 18, 2025: Veteran Reggae and lover's rock singer, Leroy Gibbons (real name Leroy Gibbon) died on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 in Lucea, Hanover. He was 74 years old. Originally the lead vocalist for a cappella group, The Gospel Proclaimers, a young Leroy Gibbons performed to sold-out audiences across Jamaica. He would leave the group to carve out a solo career as a lover's rock singer and met King Jammy, who steered him on a path of success. He released hits such as Magic Moment, Cupid and Stir it up. Leroy Gibbons' last performance was in January at Rebel Salute 2025 at Plantation Cove in St Ann, where he gave a splendid performance.
