Stephen found out she was HIV positive when she was about to engage a ward programme where she had to do a test, rendering her unfit hence rejected. Joan Stephen spoke to The Gleaner about her journey and seeing her status as Hope, Inspiring Vision, at The World AIDS Day Church Service at the Christ Church, 6 Antrim Road, Vineyard Town, on November 22, 2020.
