Born Nomzamo Winifred Zanyiwe Madikizela on September 26, 1936. 2. Married anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela in 1958. 3. Served as the Deputy Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology of South Africa, 1994- 1996. 4. Visited Jamaica on July 24, 1991 with then husband Nelson Mandela, anti-apartheid champion and former president of South Africa. 5. Convicted of theft and fraud in 2003.
